PLT is a file format. It is most commonly associated with the AutoDesk Auto CAD software application. This file format can be printed using a plotter. A plotter draws images using lines instead of printing dots like a normal printer. In simple terms plotting to mean the act of printing and designing with the assistance of software specially developed for creating technical drawings. Sometimes, the PLT file format also called HPGL. It is the standard language for printing line drawings. This file format created by Hewlett-Packard. And it is specially designed for 2D graphical information. This file structure on the basis of Set of commands embedded in the ROM of pen Plotters. PLT format uses two-letter mnemonics as instruction for drawing lines, circles, text, and symbols. HP plotters use PLT as its primary printer control language. To create PLT file, select the Plot to file option in the plot dialog box. A PLT file is similar to PRN file that you can print to a windows systems printer. PLT file contains some additional instruction for the plotter to plot the drawing correctly. It is an important program of graphic design.
